I was a staff sgt in "M" Co.,3rd Battalion,508 Airborne Regimental Combat Team stationed at Sand Hill, Ft. The regiment was involved in an infamous Texas jump called "operation longhorn" in 1953 (? Infamous because the regimental commander gave the order to jump in winds that exceeded safe levels, resulting n 200 plus serious injuries and 2 deaths .
